“Same surgery — so why are the results different?”
From selecting surgical candidates to tailored surgery and post-operative care, everything must be planned together.

Goldman Urology Clinic precisely checks five areas through a medical history interview and tests,
and performs only the surgery that is truly needed, only when it is truly needed.
01 Can they perform
every type of surgery?
02 Is this the right time for surgery?
03 Is it a place with enough experience and proven skill?
Based on each patient's condition, Goldman tailors the right surgery to the individual — rather than relying on a single device or technique, we have built a system that can perform every type of BPH surgery.
“Every BPH surgery has clear advantages and disadvantages, so the choice must be weighed carefully.”
– Dong-A Ilbo“Because there are many surgical options for BPH, it is important to give accurate information before surgery and recommend the method that fits each patient's situation and needs.”
– noted in an international journal

From the latest diagnostic equipment to precise customized surgery
and systematic post-operative care, our specialist urology team and advanced systems come together to deliver safe, effective treatment.
BPH surgery is not a single procedure applied identically to every patient. What matters is a process that decides whether surgery is needed, and which method to use, after comprehensively considering the size and shape of the prostate, the location of the protrusion, bladder function, and any accompanying conditions. Even with the same equipment, results can differ depending on how surgical candidates are selected and what treatment strategy is used.
That is why Goldman Urology Clinic runs a step-by-step BPH surgery system, from pre-operative evaluation to a surgical plan tailored to each patient.
Designing the entire process systematically — from pre-operative candidate selection to customized surgical choice and post-operative care — is what characterizes BPH surgery at Goldman.
Therefore, it helps to also review the following criteria.
In particular, because the choice of surgical method for BPH can vary with not only prostate size but also the protrusion pattern, the site of obstruction, changes in bladder function, and prior treatment, establishing a customized treatment strategy through precise pre-operative evaluation is important.
In addition, backed by over 6,500 BPH surgeries more than 25 years, the clinic handles demanding cases such as large prostates over 80g, elderly patients, and those with underlying conditions, and manages recovery step by step through a follow-up system that continuously monitors post-operative voiding changes.
Choosing a hospital that carries out this entire process systematically — from precise pre-operative evaluation to a patient-tailored surgical choice and post-operative care — helps in expecting stable surgical results.
Yes, it is possible. Taking anticoagulants or antithrombotic drugs does not by itself rule out BPH surgery. However, the surgical method and whether the medication needs to be adjusted must be decided after a comprehensive review of the type of drug being taken, the patient's cardiovascular condition, prostate size, and voiding status.
Anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs prevent blood clots, so never stop them on your own.
If they are taken for atrial fibrillation, a prosthetic heart valve, or a coronary stent, stopping can raise the risk of clots or cardiovascular complications.
For such patients, whose medication is hard to stop, it is important to choose a method that treats BPH while accounting for bleeding risk.
For patients with high bleeding risk or who cannot easily stop antithrombotic drugs, HoLEP, which removes enlarged prostate tissue with a laser, is now an option.
However, no single method suits every patient.
Before surgery, discuss your medication and whether to stop or continue it with cardiology and the medical team, and decide together on surgical and anesthesia methods suited to prostate size and voiding function.
Therefore, rather than assuming “I am on anticoagulants, so I cannot have surgery,” tell your medical team exactly what you take and your prostate condition, and discuss the treatment options available.
The cost of BPH surgery varies with prostate size and shape, the surgical method chosen, and the tests and hospitalization required.
Also, because treatment differs with each patient's overall health and treatment plan, it is hard to quote a single fixed cost.
Typical cost ranges for our main surgeries and procedures:
- HoLEP surgery: approx. KRW 1.5–2.5 million - Prostatic urethral lift (UroLift): approx. KRW 3.5–7.5 million - iTind procedure: approx. KRW 5–6 million - Rezum procedure: approx. KRW 9–10 million - Aquablation surgery: approx. KRW 9–11 million
